November is National Family Caregivers Month

National Family Caregivers Month is celebrated each November. It is a time to recognize and honor family caregivers across the country. In his National Family Caregiver Month proclamation for 2022, President Biden said,

“During National Family Caregivers Month, we recognize the love and sacrifice of more than 50 million Americans providing crucial care and medical assistance to parents, children, siblings, and other loved ones, ensuring their health and dignity.”

Indeed, in today’s world, millions of Americans are providing daily care to someone in need of support because of an injury, a disability, an illness, or an advancing age. They are the caregivers, the backbone of their family, yet often overworked and unseen; this is the month to focus on changing that! It’s time to bring the caregiver’s role with its challenges, joys, expectations, and duties into the light of acknowledgment.

At Home Senior Care celebrates the efforts of family caregivers. As a private duty home care agency, AHSC caregivers regularly work with family caregivers when supporting senior clients. This partnership is integral to creating a robust and reliable care team.

There are many positives to using a home care agency to complement family caregiving. Home care services can bridge the gap between independent living at home and assisted living when a senior chooses to age in place.

Family caregiving can feel overwhelming with its responsibilities. A professional caregiver helps to ease the stress of caring for an aging loved one. They can take on the caregiving tasks so that the family caregiver can spend less time on those duties and more quality time with their senior loved one.

Nothing can ever replace the love and care of family, but if you are a family caregiver in need of extra support or resources, At Home Senior Care can help!
